2026-10-28 AI Daily: DeepMind Genie 4, Nvidia/AMD $4B into Meta, Anthropic Drug R&D, OpenAI×Oracle

Today's through-line is world models, chipmakers buying into hyperscale financing, life-science deployment and enterprise partnerships: DeepMind ships Genie 4, Nvidia and AMD commit a combined $4B to Meta's equity offering while deepening Muse and infrastructure collaboration, Anthropic reports early Claude progress in drug development, OpenAI puts Oracle apps into ChatGPT, and an Anthropic study warns how AI agents shape experts' judgment.

1. Google DeepMind unveils Genie 4: a more realistic real-time interactive world model

On October 27, 2026, Google DeepMind announced Genie 4, a new world model for more realistic real-time interactive simulation. Genie 4 is natively multimodal: it generates audio—music, ambient sound and interactive dialogue—alongside the world. It builds on Gemini: Gemini Omni anchors real-world appearance and behavior; other Gemini models help maintain coherence and continuity. Users can steer weather, camera view, or introduce a new person or object in real time with natural language; Gemini adapts prompts and steers between inputs. Per TechCrunch, Genie 4 can maintain a consistent scene for up to about two minutes—roughly double Genie 3—with better physics and more humanlike characters. Gemini 3.8 Flash acts as a guiding agent in the loop; the team is also experimenting with Gemini 4 Argon plus Genie 4 for robotics simulation (e.g. Apptronik Apollo playing checkers). It is a research preview for trusted testers, coming soon to Google AI Ultra in Project Genie and to early-access partners of the Gemini API / Google AI Studio. Limitations include object-permanence drift over longer runs, complex physics, audio accuracy, legible text and spatial accuracy; generated video and audio carry SynthID watermarking.

Why it matters: World models are moving from short playable clips toward multimodal loops you can hear, steer in real time and plug into robotics simulation—while still constrained by object permanence and complex physics.

2. Nvidia $3B and AMD $1B into Meta equity; deepen Muse and infra partnerships

Per CNBC on October 27, 2026, Nvidia will invest $3B in Meta's equity offering and AMD will invest $1B—$4B combined. Meta had on Monday announced a plan totaling up to about $95B for AI infrastructure (initial underwritten offerings, then about $60B ATM); Monday's announcement had also said Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom were interested in up to an aggregate $5B (non-binding). Nvidia's newsroom says the companies will expand collaboration on Muse and the Muse family of models; Meta will expand Vera Rubin and Vera CPU deployment; related IR coverage also mentions Spectrum-X / BlueField-4 networking. AMD investor relations says Helios systems are running at Meta; EPYC powers Muse; and the partners are building and deploying at gigawatt scale.

Why it matters: Chip suppliers are upgrading from “sell GPUs” to “equity stake + model collaboration + gigawatt-scale deployment”—tying hyperscale financing more tightly to their own product roadmaps.

3. Anthropic: early progress accelerating drug development with Claude

On October 27, 2026, Anthropic published early progress with life-science partners including BigHat Biosciences, Bristol Myers Squibb, Divergence Labs, Enveda, Generate Biomedicines and The Column Group. Generate: Claude Code designs; one CAR-T-related design about 70% shorter; about 10× more receptors in lab tests, more effective tumor killing and longer activity. Divergence: about 35,000 antibody designs in about one month for a food-allergy IgE approach, with hits for both arms. BigHat: about 1,010 variants in about 10 weeks; best versions more than 10× tighter binding; a cancer lead stayed in solution 18°C higher; a longer-lasting lead clumped more than 100× more slowly. Enveda: 1,061 pages of docs; caught all 11 human-flagged issues plus 7 more; human review time down 89% (about 26 hours → under 3 hours); one regulatory first draft in 4 hours versus about 3 months by hand. TCG is establishing Pleiades using Claude for more and more complex drug programs. BMS: Claude for clinical study plans and trial success-probability estimates. Anthropic also acquired Mithril Medicine; founder Cody Tranbarger used Claude—idea to promising mouse results in under 18 months for a rare childhood muscular dystrophy; if candidates hold, clinical trials as soon as late 2028. Anthropic launched a Claude Science workbench and a Life Sciences Verification Program, with an open call for guest investigators. Most of this work is preclinical.

Why it matters: Model labs are embedding Claude directly into design, screening and regulatory-document loops—early metrics look strong, but most results remain preclinical.

4. OpenAI expands Oracle partnership — Oracle apps in ChatGPT

On October 27, 2026, OpenAI and Oracle announced an expanded partnership: Oracle apps and data into ChatGPT, plus new Oracle offerings powered by OpenAI. Oracle reported 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users. Oracle AI Workspace: integrations so employees can describe goals, find information and complete approved workflows in ChatGPT under organizational permissions. Also: Oracle AI Security Mesh (OpenAI cyber models), Oracle AI SMB Bundle (ChatGPT Business + Codex + OCI credits), and Oracle App Composer (build apps with Codex, deploy on OCI). U.S. Oracle customers can buy OpenAI API, Codex and ChatGPT Work via Oracle Marketplace with eligible Universal Credits.

Why it matters: An enterprise-software giant is hanging ERP and app layers directly onto the chat interface—and routing procurement through its own Marketplace and credit system.

5. Anthropic study: How AI agents shape experts' judgment calls

On October 27, 2026, Anthropic released a study in which 50 professional causal-inference analysts used Claude Code (Opus 4.8 High effort) on a fictional farming co-op advisory evaluation. Agents were secretly assigned coin-flip “leans” on open decisions; told to argue honestly, change mind if evidence demanded, and never mislead. Analysts matched the agent lean on 86% of four analytical choices (versus about 50% by chance). When analysts had a prior preference: they switched 60% if the agent disagreed versus 6% if it agreed. 77% reused agent arguments (sometimes verbatim); only 15% credited the agent. Final recommendations were also shaped indirectly; a model using the four leans predicted 82% of recommendations. Those who followed the agent still often called the recommendation their own, with similar confidence. Non-agent users (a small, less experienced group) made more serious errors and took longer—authors caution against strong causal claims. The work is framed as a caution about deferred judgment, scientific independence, and AI-safety research that assumes human-in-the-loop oversight.

Why it matters: Even with experts in the loop, an agent's hidden lean can systematically steer analytical choices and final advice—and most people do not credit the source.

Today's takeaway: Genie 4 makes world models audible and steerable, Nvidia and AMD lock $4B of chip capital into Meta's raise, Claude enters drug design and regulatory docs, Oracle apps land in ChatGPT—and a study on agents shaping expert judgment warns that capability growth and deferred judgment are arriving together.
