Install PoYo for ComfyUI

Local visual AI workflows

Use PoYo image, video, and audio models beside local ComfyUI nodes, with visual connections and file outputs.

Before you start

  • ComfyUI 0.32.0 or newer
  • Git and a PoYo API key

Three steps to a verified setup

Complete the steps in order. Each step includes the place to act and the result that confirms you can continue.

  1. 1

    Check your ComfyUI version

Update ComfyUI before installing the node pack if your version is older than 0.32.0.

Continue when: ComfyUI reports version 0.32.0 or newer.
  2. 2

Install the nodes and restart ComfyUI

Clone the official repository into custom_nodes, then fully restart ComfyUI so it can load the new package.

    Terminal
    cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
    git clone https://github.com/PoyoAPI/poyo-comfyui.git
Continue when: Searching the node menu for PoYo shows the installed PoYo nodes.
  3. 3

    Configure the API key

Set the key before starting ComfyUI, or use the local configuration command. Do not paste the key into workflow node fields.

    Windows
    set POYO_API_KEY=your_poyo_api_key
    set POYO_BASE_URL=https://api.poyo.ai
    macOS / Linux
    export POYO_API_KEY=your_poyo_api_key
    export POYO_BASE_URL=https://api.poyo.ai
    Local config alternative
    python -m poyo_nodes.configure
Continue when: PoYo nodes can load the live model catalog without an authentication error.

Run your first PoYo workflow

Use the official sample so installation and credentials are tested before you build a larger workflow.

Choose a sample workflow

Start with one small workflow that matches the behavior you want to verify.

How to import
  1. 1Download the JSON file.
  2. 2Drag it onto the ComfyUI canvas, or choose Workflow → Open.
  3. 3Select a model, confirm the inputs, then choose Queue Prompt.
  1. 1Download an official sample workflow from the repository.
  2. 2Open it in ComfyUI and select a model from the live catalog.
  3. 3Queue the prompt and wait for the PoYo task to finish.
  4. 4Find the saved result under ComfyUI/output/poyo.

First success: The queue completes and a generated result is available in ComfyUI/output/poyo.

If something does not work

PoYo nodes do not appear
Restart ComfyUI completely and inspect its startup console for a poyo_nodes import error.
The catalog does not load
Verify the API key and network connection, then restart after changing environment variables.
The workflow cannot find an output
Wait for the task to reach finished, then check the Save Result File node and ComfyUI/output/poyo.
Technical details

These details matter for production integrations, but they are not prerequisites for the first successful run.

  • Credentials stay outside exported workflow files.
  • Tasks keep the public statuses not_started, running, finished, and failed.
  • Requests call the current PoYo REST endpoints directly and include an X-PoYo-Source tag.
