Install PoYo for n8n

No-code and low-code automation

Connect PoYo generation to forms, schedules, webhooks, databases, and the other apps already in your automation.

Before you start

  • An n8n instance that allows Community Nodes
  • A PoYo API key

Three steps to a verified setup

Complete the steps in order. Each step includes the place to act and the result that confirms you can continue.

  1. 1

    Create a PoYo API key

Open the PoYo dashboard and create a key for this n8n credential. Keep the key available for step 3.

    Create API key
Continue when: The new key is visible once and ready to copy.
  2. 2

Install the community node in n8n

Use the n8n interface. The npm command is only for advanced self-hosted deployment workflows.

    Settings → Community Nodes → Install → n8n-nodes-poyo
Continue when: Searching for PoYo while adding a node returns the installed PoYo nodes.
  3. 3

    Create and test the credential

Create a PoYo API credential, keep the default Base URL unless you use a self-hosted gateway, paste the API key, then run the credential test.

Credentials → New credential → PoYo API → Test
Continue when: n8n confirms the connection and the credential can read your PoYo account.

Run your first PoYo workflow

Use the official sample so installation and credentials are tested before you build a larger workflow.

Choose a sample workflow

Start with one small workflow that matches the behavior you want to verify.

How to import
  1. 1Download the JSON file.
  2. 2In n8n, choose Import from File from the workflow menu.
  3. 3Select your PoYo credential, review the sample input, then run the workflow.
  1. 1Import an official sample workflow from the repository.
  2. 2Select a model from the live catalog and provide the sample input.
  3. 3Run the workflow and wait for the PoYo job to finish.
  4. 4Confirm that the result URL or downloaded file reaches the final node.

First success: The execution finishes successfully and the final node contains a PoYo result URL or file.

If something does not work

PoYo nodes are missing
Confirm Community Nodes are enabled for this n8n instance and that n8n reports n8n-nodes-poyo as installed.
Credential test returns 401
Create a new PoYo key, paste it without surrounding spaces, and keep the default API URL https://api.poyo.ai.
A run waits too long
Inspect the job status before submitting again. A second submission may create another paid generation.
Technical details

These details matter for production integrations, but they are not prerequisites for the first successful run.

  • Credentials stay outside exported workflow files.
  • Tasks keep the public statuses not_started, running, finished, and failed.
  • Requests call the current PoYo REST endpoints directly and include an X-PoYo-Source tag.
