2026-11-02: 8 API complaints we heard today
Complaints that English-speaking developers posted publicly between Oct 31 and Nov 2, 2026, paraphrased below with links to the original posts. Each answer uses only what PoYo's public site and docs say today, and links to the page it comes from. Where the docs don't cover something, we say so.
Q1. Black October: someone else burned my AI API keys.
What developers are complaining about: After Northflank told customers to rotate API keys, database passwords, and env vars following decrypted secrets and abused AI provider credentials (@PKNewsland, @dustingray, @TechTimeRadio), builders tied it to a wider "Black October" wave that also hit platforms like Railway — where AI keys, not DB passwords, were the prize (@stretchcloud, @SylasTools). Roundups cited multi-million Bedrock call burns and five-figure losses from a single leaked key (@VibeManagerAI).
How PoYo answers: Treat every PoYo key as cash on your server — Getting Started says never put keys in frontend code, mobile apps, or public repos. Documented blast-radius controls on the API key page:
- Revoke / rotate the moment a host or PaaS looks compromised.
- Enable an IP whitelist so a copied key only works from approved server IPs.
- Set hourly / daily / total usage caps per key so a lingering secret has a ceiling.
- Send
X-End-User-IDon generation and native chat so you can block one abusive caller with 403end_user_blockedwithout rotating every integration (End-user identification). - Watch
GET /api/user/balanceand stop on 402insufficient_credits_error(user balance, error codes).
Public docs do not promise refunds for usage made with a leaked key. Contact [email protected] if you believe a PoYo key was misused (Getting Started).
Q2. Claude Ultra dropped the 5-hour wall — and the weekly wall is still the story.
What developers are complaining about: Anthropic renamed Claude Max 20× to Ultra at the same $200 price; verified Ultra accounts lose the 5-hour session cap while the weekly limit (reported as 10× Pro) stays (@akxwire, @bailu4ever). Some celebrated the change (@Baxti_7); others hit plan confusion mid-cancel or mid-week burn (@PrivEquity_). Nearby Claude Code tips reminded people that each agent step resends the whole context, so a file read on step 2 is billed again on every step after (@pi_himself).
How PoYo answers: PoYo chat is prepaid credits per successful output, not a rolling 5-hour / weekly subscription wall (homepage, llms.txt). Credits never expire and there are no subscriptions. Cap a runaway coding agent with per-key hourly / daily / total limits (API key page). Chat endpoints are OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions / Responses, Claude Messages, or Gemini-native — pick a model ID and read live pricing at https://poyo.ai/models/<id>/llms.txt (chat models). Empty balance returns 402; account generation throughput overage returns 429 (default up to 20 new generation requests per 10 seconds; LLM endpoints are currently not rate limited) (Getting Started, error codes). The docs describe no automatic failover to another lab when a subscription tool hits its own wall — build that in your client if you need it.
Q3. Gemini Argon's intro price doubles on Dec 1.
What developers are complaining about: Developers flagged that Gemini 4 Argon's standard API rate moves from $2/$10 per 1M tokens through Nov 30 to $4/$20 on Dec 1, with batch/flex and cache prices stepping up too (@knightleijun). Others hunted Pro-plan workarounds to avoid Ultra or raw API tokens for Argon workloads (@pradeepXkapoor).
How PoYo answers: On PoYo, do not trust training-data prices or a third-party screenshot. Live chat prices sit in each model's https://poyo.ai/models/<id>/llms.txt and on the model page (llms.txt). For Argon specifically, the public index currently lists gemini-4-argon with published input/output rates on PoYo (llms.txt) — re-fetch that file before you budget December traffic. Billing is per successful output from a prepaid credit balance; credits never expire (homepage). Monitor spend with GET /api/user/balance (user balance). When credits are gone you get 402, not a silent intro-price cliff (error codes). PoYo docs do not promise to freeze another lab's promotional window forever — check the model llms.txt on the day you ship.
Q4. Cursor + Claude Code on API rates feels like paying rent.
What developers are complaining about: Builders said the best Cursor + Claude Code setup still leaves them on Claude API pricing, not subscription token value (@jasonmcminn). Others warned that AI coding startups on raw API pricing are "paying Anthropic rent with a nicer landing page" unless they route grunt work to cheap models (@dylanjohnstonIT). Side-by-side plan math kept circulating: Claude Pro sharing chat with Claude Code, ChatGPT Plus Codex message windows, Cursor Premium multipliers (@Clevernesspc1).
How PoYo answers: PoYo is a unified API key across image, video, music, 3D, and chat with credit-based pricing and no subscriptions (homepage, llms.txt). For agent stacks, route expensive judgment to a frontier chat model ID and cheaper steps to a documented smaller model — both on one key, with live schemas at https://poyo.ai/models/<id>/llms.txt. Cap each integration key's hourly / daily / total spend on the API key page. Prefer webhooks over aggressive polling for long media jobs (webhooks). Failed generation tasks are not charged (llms.txt). The docs do not claim PoYo undercuts every lab's subscription "included tokens" math — compare the per-model llms.txt price to your real agent token shape.
Q5. Bootstrappers can't get high TPM from neoclouds — so they live on OpenRouter.
What developers are complaining about: A founder noted that bootstrapped startups often can't get high tokens-per-minute from many neoclouds and are forced onto OpenRouter for higher TPM even when pinning a single provider (@kristoph). OpenRouter spend stats still showed Anthropic taking a large share of dollars even as prices fall (@zrxo6f).
How PoYo answers: PoYo documents generation throughput as up to 20 new requests per 10 seconds per account on /api/generate/submit; overage returns 429 and does not enter the queue. LLM endpoints are currently not rate limited (Getting Started). If you consistently hit 429 on generation, contact support for a higher limit — approvals are handled cautiously. Separate 429 rate_limit_error from 402 insufficient_credits_error and from 502/503 upstream/busy errors; only retry the transient class with backoff (error codes, troubleshooting). PoYo is one key and one credit wallet, not a multi-provider auction — Getting Started also sets realistic stability expectations and does not document automatic provider failover.
Q6. Tokens got cheaper. The bill still went up.
What developers are complaining about: Commentary on a16z / Ornn charts argued unit prices fell while total spend rose ~122–160% because volume grew roughly 7–8× (@Dave_Joe_9377). Enterprise chatter included Accenture funding only about $29/month per person for Claude after some staff had run up ~$1,000 months (@paulnugent92159).
How PoYo answers: Price-per-token dropping does not cap your monthly burn — your credit balance does. Top up once; credits never expire; pay only for successful output (homepage, llms.txt). Operational controls:
- Per-key hourly / daily / total caps (API key page).
GET /api/user/balancebefore large batches (user balance).- Treat 402 as a hard stop; treat 429 as pace-and-retry (error codes).
- Do not blindly resubmit: submission retries are not deduplicated and may create another task (Getting Started, troubleshooting).
There is no documented enterprise "seat budget" product that auto-enforces a $29/user org policy — implement that in your own metering if you need it.
Q7. ChatGPT Pro's "free" API credits expire — and Codex via API keys isn't covered.
What developers are complaining about: Posts summarized OpenAI's Pro / Business monthly API credits ($100/$200/$500 by Pro tier; Business seat allotments with a $500 cap), with unused credit expiring each cycle and Codex via API keys called out as not covered (@Qualiteg_global, @park_danie36173, @Akasa4AI). Others still worried about ChatGPT and Codex sharing one plan usage pool (@VampireGurlAI, @siruruku) and documented API-key sign-in as a workaround when the shared pool runs dry (@AICreditRadar).
How PoYo answers: PoYo does not gate credits behind another product's subscription claim button or monthly expire window. You top up credits on the dashboard; they never expire; there is no subscription (homepage). One balance covers image, video, music, 3D, and chat (llms.txt). Create keys at the API key page; check GET /api/user/balance (user balance). When the balance is empty you get 402 insufficient_credits_error, not a fake-429 for "promo credits gone" (error codes). Failed generation tasks are not charged (llms.txt).
Q8. Vibe-coded apps ship AI routes with no login and no rate limit.
What developers are complaining about: A scan of 25 vibe-coded apps found zero leaked keys in that sample — but server-side AI routes that anyone could call, with auth off next to an admin key (@hackorbroke). Security roundups kept stacking exposed-key stats and overnight burn stories on top of the Northflank / Railway wave (@AayushStack).
How PoYo answers: Keep PoYo keys on your backend only (Getting Started). Then layer the documented controls:
- IP whitelist + per-key caps on the API key page.
- Require
X-End-User-IDfor multi-tenant callers and block abusers with 403end_user_blockedwithout rotating the whole key (End-user identification). - Put your own auth in front of any route that proxies to PoYo — PoYo's key controls are not a substitute for app login.
- Alert on
GET /api/user/balancedrops and halt on 402 (user balance).
Public docs still do not promise refunds for traffic that hits an open proxy with a valid key. Rotate first, then open a support ticket at [email protected] if needed (Getting Started).
