2026-11-05: 8 API complaints we heard today
Complaints that English-speaking developers posted publicly around Nov 4–5, 2026, paraphrased below with links to the original posts. Each answer uses only what PoYo's public site and docs say today, and links to the page it comes from. Where the docs don't cover something, we say so.
Q1. Agent and coding API bills got too expensive — frontier stacks near $1k/mo.
What developers are complaining about: Builders say GPT + Claude bills for agent/coding work crossed a pain threshold, so they're shopping open models (GLM, Qwen, DeepSeek, Kimi) for real coding and ops (@naumanthanvi). Others call out how aggressively agents waste tokens (@SoSensitiveOne), and that making agent products work still means frontier models at roughly $1k/mo of Claude/Codex-class spend (@jwblackwell). Industry posts echoed the same cost wall for personal agents and compute-heavy assistants (@BitBiasedAI).
How PoYo answers: PoYo chat is prepaid credits per successful output from one wallet — no subscription, and credits never expire (homepage, llms.txt). Use one key across OpenAI-compatible /v1/chat/completions, Claude Messages /v1/messages, or Gemini-native endpoints (API overview, Getting Started).
Concrete cost controls documented today:
- Pick an explicit model ID and read live pricing at
https://poyo.ai/models/<id>/llms.txtbefore you wire an agent loop. - Some model cards publish rates ~20% below official standard — for example Claude Opus 5.5 ($3.2 in / $16 out per 1M tokens) and Claude Sonnet 5.5 ($1.6 in / $8 out). That is per-card, not a blanket discount claim.
- Cap runaway agents with hourly / daily / total limits on the API key page.
- Poll
GET /api/user/balanceand treat 402insufficient_credits_erroras a hard stop (user balance, error codes).
Public docs do not claim automatic model routing that silently downgrades a runaway agent for you — switch model IDs in your client if you need a cheaper path.
Q2. Claude Max weekly usage burn — opaque limits and hundreds in extras.
What developers are complaining about: Claude Max users reported burning ~26% of weekly allowance in 12 hours, with a tracker UI that used to look model-specific and now appears to cover all models (@FranciAnjinho). Another builder said they exhausted the whole weekly limit by Thursday, then watched extra hundreds of dollars pile up before noticing — and now every job checks usage first and falls back to Codex/Grok above 90% (@jjcitron).
How PoYo answers: PoYo does not sell a Claude Max-style weekly subscription allowance mixed with overage. Billing is prepaid credits drawn per successful output; empty balance returns 402, not a surprise overage invoice (homepage, error codes).
Practical pattern matching what those posts are reaching for:
- Set per-key hourly / daily / total caps so a heavy coding day cannot silently keep spending (API key page).
- Check
GET /api/user/balancebefore large agent batches (user balance). - Prefer cheaper or alternate chat model IDs when balance or caps get tight — live schemas at
https://poyo.ai/models/<id>/llms.txt(chat models).
Docs do not claim a Claude Max weekly tracker, automatic overage, or auto-failover when you "hit 90%." Build that preference logic in your client.
Q3. ChatGPT Pro / plan credits weirdness — cancel+resubscribe, plan vs API confusion.
What developers are complaining about: A ChatGPT Pro ($200/mo) user said API credits disappeared after canceling and resubscribing with a new card on the same account; support told them to wait 7 days for prorated credits (@xingmiao520). Separately, Claude plan charts keep mixing consumer tiers with API credit inclusions (Pro has none; Max/Ultra advertise monthly API credits), which fuels plan-vs-API confusion (@LimitWatch_).
How PoYo answers: PoYo separates the product from subscription credit gymnastics:
- Credit-based pricing, no subscriptions — one-time top-ups; credits never expire (homepage).
- One API key for chat + media (llms.txt, API overview).
- Inspect remaining balance with
GET /api/user/balance(user balance). - Insufficient funds → 402
insufficient_credits_error, not a 7-day prorate wait (error codes).
Public docs do not describe ChatGPT Pro / Claude Max subscription credit reclaim flows, card-change prorates, or "plan includes N API dollars this month." If you need account help on a PoYo balance, use dashboard support / [email protected] (Getting Started).
Q4. Premium video API cost + wasted paid generations.
What developers are complaining about: Creators hunting affordable Kling 4.0 / Seedance 2.5 UGC say consumer tools are too pricey for small brands (@ahmed_ansar1). Seedance 2.5 is called out as so expensive that you effectively get one 30-second gen (@tirtaVEX). Others note Kling/MiniMax hallucinate, so you burn paid generations on unusable clips (@just_nikhil01). Compute math circulating the same day: a short video can be ~10,000× a text prompt (@guilleflorvs).
How PoYo answers: Video is on the same unified async API as other media: POST /api/generate/submit → status poll or webhook (video models, webhooks). Failed generation tasks are not charged (homepage, llms.txt).
Catalog entries builders were asking about (live prices on each model's llms.txt):
- Kling 4.0 —
kling-4.0, 3–30s (kling-4-0/llms.txt) - Seedance 2.5 —
seedance-2.5, 4–30s (seedance-2-5/llms.txt) - Also listed: Veo 3.1, Sora 2 Official, Wan 3.0, MiniMax/Hailuo family, and more (video overview, llms.txt)
Ops tips that match the waste complaint:
- Prefer webhooks over aggressive polling for long jobs.
- Do not blindly resubmit: retries can create another billable task if the first already accepted (Getting Started).
- Download finished files within 3 days retention (Getting Started, video overview).
- Cap spend with key hourly / daily / total limits and stop on 402 (API key page, error codes).
Docs do not promise a "hallucination refund" for finished-but-undesired clips — only that failed tasks are not charged.
Q5. Multi-engine video routing — "85 engines, one balance."
What developers are complaining about: Routing posts argued the prompt is ~10% of the result and the engine is 90%: Seedance for look, Kling for motion, OmniHuman for avatars, Flux for sound — marketed as 85 engines on one balance so you don't juggle five lab tabs (@francescoinweb3). Builders want that same idea as one API across Seedance / Kling / OmniHuman / Flux / etc.
How PoYo answers: That is the documented PoYo shape: one API key, one async submit/status/webhook workflow, switch models by changing the model field (llms.txt, API overview, video overview).
Examples on the same balance:
| Job | Model ID | Docs / schema |
|---|---|---|
| Cinematic / longer Seedance | seedance-2.5 | seedance-2-5, llms.txt |
| Motion / up to 30s Kling | kling-4.0 | kling-4-0, llms.txt |
| Talking avatar | omnihuman-2.0 | omnihuman-2-0, llms.txt |
| Flux / Veo / Wan / Sora families | see catalog | video overview |
Draft cheap → promote keepers is a client routing pattern; PoYo documents the endpoints and per-model prices, not an auto "shot router" product. Stability may be slightly lower than official providers — stated upfront in Getting Started. There is no documented automatic multi-lab failover.
Q6. New image API pricing opacity — Images 2.6 Flare vs Sunburst.
What developers are complaining about: After OpenAI's Images 2.6 launch posts (Flare for speed, Sunburst for consistency/fidelity), builders asked how API cost of Image 2.6 Sunburst Medium compares to prior tiers (@RoboAlchemist, @WarisHymii). Others framed the Flare/Sunburst split as the real infrastructure choice: speed vs fidelity instead of one model for everything (@vargasjmh).
How PoYo answers: PoYo's public catalog today documents GPT Image 2.5 with explicit Flare / Sunburst / Fixed IDs — not Images 2.6 model IDs (image overview, gpt-image-2-5/llms.txt, gallery):
gpt-image-2.5-flare— documented as the faster GPT Image 2.5 option (Flare docs)gpt-image-2.5-sunburst— documented for when editing precision matters (Sunburst docs)
Same async submit/status/webhook path as other media; failed tasks are not charged (llms.txt). Live prices and quality tiers (including medium) live on the model llms.txt / model page — do not invent cents-per-image from memory. If/when a newer OpenAI image ID lands on PoYo, it will appear in llms.txt and https://poyo.ai/models/<id>/llms.txt the same way.
Q7. Provider outages with weak status signals — need outage-aware clients.
What developers are complaining about: Gemini API had a brief multi-region drop while the status page stayed quiet (@Marco_SI__). Claude had a ~1 hour partial outage hitting Code / Cowork / API, with HN chatter that Downdetector beat the green status page (@ycnewsdigest). Recurring advice: AI pilots should test provider outage cases and keep an explicit preference / fallback policy (@contextaware_ai).
How PoYo answers: Build clients around documented error codes, not green status pages (error codes):
| Code | Meaning on PoYo |
|---|---|
| 402 | Insufficient credits (insufficient_credits_error) — hard stop; top up |
| 429 | Rate limit (rate_limit_error) — wait / queue |
| 502 / 503 | Upstream / busy — retry with backoff |
Generation defaults: up to 20 new /api/generate/submit requests per 10 seconds per account; overage returns 429 and does not enter the queue. LLM endpoints are currently not rate limited (Getting Started). Prefer webhooks for long media jobs so a blip does not become a poll storm.
One PoYo key can call different chat/media model IDs when you need an alternate path (llms.txt). Public docs do not claim automatic transparent failover across labs or a published multi-provider outage SLA — Getting Started states stability may be slightly lower than official providers. Put provider preference and "all approved providers down" behavior in your client, as the outage-aware posts recommend.
Q8. Aggregator / reseller anxiety — "am I getting the model on the label?"
What developers are complaining about: Anthropic FlashProve was framed as a way to verify a response actually came from the claimed model when you call through a reseller/router/aggregator — because a normal API reply is just a label (@AgentFilipHQ). Same window: one-key multi-model gateways marketed as escape from per-provider keys/base URLs, with the trade-off that the relay becomes a single point of failure (@BIGBULLapp).
How PoYo answers: PoYo is a unified API key across image, video, music, 3D, and chat (API overview, llms.txt). You pass an explicit model ID; each model publishes a live schema and pricing file at https://poyo.ai/models/<id>/llms.txt. Media uses async submit → status / webhook; chat uses documented OpenAI-compatible / Claude Messages / Gemini-native shapes.
What public docs do not claim today:
- A cryptographic attestation / FlashProve-style "this blob was signed by lab X" product
- Automatic undisclosed model substitution or automatic multi-lab failover
- A refund SLA if you distrust a finished response's provenance
Getting Started sets realistic stability expectations versus official providers. Cap keys, check GET /api/user/balance, and treat 402 as a hard stop (API key page, user balance, error codes). Keep your own fixed eval set across model IDs if provenance matters for compliance — until any industry attestation ships, that remains the practical proof.
