ELEVEN V4

Expressive multilingual speech, directed with audio tags

Eleven v4 API for Natural, Expressive Text to Speech

Give characters a distinct voice and stories more feeling. With Eleven v4 on PoYo, direct laughter, pauses, and emotion through audio tags, then choose a voice for multilingual audiobooks, ads, and video narration.

Key Features of Eleven v4 API

From character performances to multilingual narration, hear how scripts become natural speech.

01

Expressive Speech with Audio Tags

Give each line its own delivery by writing direction into text. Eleven v4 interprets audio tags alongside your script, adding reactions such as chuckles and laughter where the scene calls for them. Bring character to a story or an advertising read while keeping the spoken words and performance direction together.

  • Write direction directly into the script
  • Shape emotion and natural vocal reactions
  • Create expressive story and advertising voiceovers

02

Natural Speech Across Languages

Reach listeners in their own language with speech that preserves natural rhythm and expression. Eleven v4 supports more than 90 languages; use language_code to specify a language or leave it unset for automatic detection. Produce versions for different markets within the same narration workflow.

  • Create speech in more than 90 languages
  • Specify a language or use automatic detection
  • Adapt narration for audiences across markets

03

Voice Selection for Narration

Start with a voice that suits your script, from a warm storyteller to a clear explainer. Set voice for the speaker, then adjust stability and similarity_boost to guide the output. Build a narration workflow for audiobooks, lessons and video voiceovers without recording each take yourself.

  • Choose a voice for your content
  • Adjust stability and voice similarity
  • Produce narration for books, lessons and videos

Frequently Asked Questions about Eleven v4 API

What is Eleven v4?

Eleven v4 is an ElevenLabs text-to-speech model designed for natural, expressive speech. It interprets delivery direction in your script and supports more than 90 languages. PoYo provides an asynchronous API for generating one speaker per request, with voice settings, audio format selection and optional timestamps.

How do audio tags work?

Write audio tags directly inside text to guide delivery, such as [warm], [excited] or [laughs]. Keep the spoken words in the same script. Tags are interpreted by the model rather than treated as separate API fields, and their characters count toward the request length and billing.

Which languages can I use?

Eleven v4 supports more than 90 languages. Send the text in the language you want to hear and optionally set language_code, for example en, zh or es. Leave the field out to use automatic detection. Listen to names and specialized terms before publishing the completed audio.

What is the text limit on PoYo?

Each PoYo request accepts up to 5,000 Unicode characters and cannot be blank. Spaces, newlines and audio tags are included in that count. Longer scripts need separate requests. The Playground character counter and cost estimate use the same character-counting rule as the backend.

How is usage billed?

Usage is proportional to the number of characters in the submitted text. The rate is 16 credits, or $0.08, per 1,000 characters; a 100-character request uses 1.6 credits. Requests are not rounded up to blocks of 1,000 characters. See the pricing table above and the live Playground estimate.

Which audio formats are available?

Choose from 19 output_format values covering MP3, PCM, mu-law, A-law and Opus. The default is mp3_44100_128. Generated files retain their audio encoding. MP3 is convenient for browser playback; raw PCM and telephony formats may need a compatible player after download.

Can I download timestamps?

Set timestamps to true to request timing information. When the generation returns that information, PoYo provides a separate JSON file alongside the audio download. A successful audio result may have no timestamp file if the upstream response does not include timing data.

Does this API expose streaming or voice cloning?

This PoYo integration uses asynchronous submit and status endpoints. It accepts one voice per request and does not expose WebSocket streaming, speaker arrays, context-stitching parameters or voice-clone creation. Use the documented input fields and poll the returned task ID until the result is finished or failed.

Why Use PoYo for Eleven v4 API Access

01

One Async Integration

Use the same submission and status workflow as other PoYo models. Track the returned task ID and collect completed audio without integrating a separate provider protocol.

02

Character-Based Billing

Pay for the characters you submit. Check the proportional request estimate before running, with no rounding to full blocks of 1,000 characters.

03

Shared Form and JSON Parameters

Prepare requests through forms or JSON. Both methods use the same parameter validation, default values and cost calculation rules, making it easy to move from testing to integration.

04

Audio and Timing Downloads

Download the original audio format and a separate timestamp JSON when available. Move the resulting files directly into your editing or application workflow.
